Directors Evan Cabnet, Robert O'Hara, Kent Gash, Johanna Gruenhut, Victor Maog, Liesl Tommy and Steve Cosson stage the 11 new plays, which are presented through June 28. The presentations are free and open to the public.
Plays include: Laura Marks' Mine, directed by Cabnet (June 1); Aaron Wigdor Levy's The Ball Player, directed by Gash (June 2); Augusto Federico Amador's Kissing Che, directed by Maog (June 8); Dominique Morisseau's Detroit 67, directed by O'Hara (June 9); Sevan Kaloustian Green's Babel, directed by Silverstein (June 13); Stella Fawn Ragsdale's Perish, directed by Gruenhut (June 14); Sukari Jones' Location, Location, Location, directed by Tommy (June 15); Anna Moench's Hunger, directed by Ting (June 22); Jerome A. Parker's Bliss, directed Russell (June 23); Nikole Beckwith's Stockholm, Pennsylvania (June 27); and Javierantonio González's Zoetrope, directed by Cosson (June 28).
The Public previously announced that the Emerging Writers Group would transition into a two-year program, allowing playwrights additional time to sculpt new works. It also means that the Spotlight Series will occur biennially. The Public will accept applications for the 2012 group this summer.
