Joe Iconis, whose Be More Chill arrives on Broadway in February, will write the libretto and pen the musical arrangements for a new stage musical entitled Punk Rock Girl, according to Deadline.

The musical, which will be directed and choreographed by Jennifer Werner with co-arrangements and orchestrations by Rob Rokicki, will feature songs written or made famous by a host of female-fronted bands and female musicians. Expect songs associated with Avril Lavigne, Pink, Pat Benatar, Blondie, Bikini Kill, Echosmith, ATraLaLa, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The Dead Milkmen. The latter wrote the title song.

The musical concerns 16-year-old Angela Quivers, a perfectionist who is pulled into a world of grunge by fellow teen Proxi.

“In punk music, you don’t have to be the most talented musician, the best singer, or the most beautiful rock star,” Iconis said. “The point of punk is that it’s music for everyone—it’s a party for people who aren’t polished, who aren’t perfect. It’s about finding your passion and not being ashamed of your inner weirdo. This lovingly trashy show explores serious issues in an occasionally fantastical, often explosive, always heartfelt way.”
