How did you feel when Tom Gold Dance was asked to participate in DANCERS RESPONDING TO AIDS?
I was so thrilled. I have always been a huge supporter of all Equity Fights AIDS events. I even was the leader of the City Ballet AIDS walk team for 7 years. It is an honor for us to be a part of this amazing event.

What other dance companies are you looking forward to watching during the event?
I look forward to seeing all the other companies as they are incredible artist and wonderful dancers.

What’s coming up next for Tom Gold Dance?
My company will have it second New York season March 12-13 at the Gerald Lynch Theater at John Jay College. I will be creating a world premier along with some of our familiar repertory. Also I will be performing in a new Mac app for 2wice Magazine. In the summer we will be touring Europe as usual. More info will be on our website www.tomgolddance.com.

What three performances do you consider to be most memorable in your dance career?
The three most memorable performances for me would be 1 - my first performance of Fancy Free where Jerome Robbins came backstage afterward s and told me I was better than the original cast. 2 - my performance of Candy Cane in the Nutcracker when Bette Midler came backstage, because her daughter was in the show and I gave her a backstage tour. And third every performance of Susan Stroman's Double Feature especially when Mel Brooks came backstage and told me I reminded him of Gene Kelly.

What made you decide to start Tom Gold Dance, originally?
I started my company because I wanted to present the kind of classical dance I love. High quality, amazing dancers, and something the audience could love a related too. I also gave me the opportunity to create new and original works that I love. It’s a wonderful feeling being able to do what you love.

What choreography experience do you think was most challenging?
I don't find any choreography challenging. The more difficult the situation the better. I love a challenge. I always find the most usual experience the most satisfying

What do you like most, and least about touring?
There is nothing I don't like about touring. I find being out of your own element with others the most revealing and you really get to know people. I love traveling and the group I have now really get along well. They are amazing dancers and fantastic people. It's a wonderful experience.
