News Queens Theatre Plans CHIX 6, Gershwin Tuner 'S Wonderful and Melissa Manchester This Fall The Queens Theatre in the Park has announced its 2011-2012 season, which will include the new indie-rock musical CHIX 6, as well as the Gershwin revue S'Wonderful.

The theatrical offerings will begin Sept. 27-Oct. 30 with the world premiere of CHIX 6, penned by indie-rock musician and Queens native Lourds Lane. The musical, "tells the story of a comic book artist whose superheroine characters leaps off the page to teach her how to love herself. Featuring a dynamic cast and a dazzling original score, the touching story, multimedia wizardry and electrifying music will captivate the eye, ear and heart in this world premiere event." It is billed as a pre-Broadway tryout.

Following Nov. 3-13 will be 'S Wonderful: The New Gershwin Musical, comprised of five mini-musicals. The evening will include over 40 classic hits including "I Got Rhythm," "Someone To Watch Over Me" and "They Can't Take That Away From Me."

The final theatre offering will be It's a Wonderful Life: The Live Radio Play, running Dec. 14-24. "A cast of five actors bring George Bailey and the townspeople of Bedford Falls to life, playing dozens of different characters and performing all the sound effects, just as they did during the golden age of radio."

Special events include concerts by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Melissa Manchester on Nov. 19 at 2 and 8 PM.
