The Off-Broadway bound R&B musical From My Hometown can be seen in two special industry presentations at 6 and 9 PM on Nov. 18 at the Triad Theatre.
The musical features more than 40 classic R&B songs as it tells the story of Philly, Memphis, and Detroit, three rhythm and blues singers who travel to New York City in search of success.
Conceived by Lee Summers (Dreamgirls), From My Hometown was written collaboratively between three actors -- Summers, Herbert Rawlings Jr. (Drama Desk nominated for Dreamgirls) and Ty Stephens (Sophisticated Ladies) -- who also star. Actor Kevin Ramsey (The Life) directs with Leslie Dockery (Smokey Joe's Cafe) as co-choreographer.
Milwaukee Repertory Theatre produced the show in its Stackner Cabaret in April of 1998. The original production featured Summers, Darren Lee Frazier and Robert H. Fowler.
Industry professionals may reserve seats by calling (212) 799-4599. The Triad Theatre is located at 158 West 72nd Street. -- By Christine Ehren
