The U.K. premiere production of the 2011 Broadway musical Wonderland, which will begin performances at the Edinburgh Playhouse January 20, 2017, for a run to January 28, and then tour nationally through August, has announced that Rachael Wooding will join the company.
As previously announced, Kerry Ellis will play Alice at select venues; Wooding will now play the other dates.
Wooding has previously appeared in the West End in We Will Rock You, Hairspray, and Jersey Boys and on tour in the title role in the U.K. tour of Evita. She will appear at tour dates in Southend, Oxford, Grimsby, York, Blackpool, Southampton, Aberdeen, Lowestoft, Torquay, Llandudno, Glasgow, Swansea, Wolverhampton, and Richmond. Ellis will appear at Edinburgh, Sunderland, Birmingham, Bromley, Woking, Manchester, Wimbledon, Bristol, Brighton, Liverpool, Stoke, Milton Keynes, and Bournemouth.
The casting of the role of Alice for Derry, Belfast, and Dublin is yet to be announced.
The production also stars Wendi Peters as Queen of Hearts and Dave Willetts as White Rabbit.
Completing the principal cast are Stephen Webb as Jack/White Knight, Natalie McQueen as Mad Hatter, Kayi Ushe as Caterpillar, Dominic Owen as Cheshire Cat, Ben Kerr as March Hare, Naomi Morris as Ellie, and Michelle Pentecost as Alternate Alice/Mad Hatter.
They are joined by a company comprising Sharif Afifi, Toyan Thomas-Browne, Divine Cresswell, Jessica Croll, Francesca Lara Gordon, Benjamin McMillan, Michael Morgan, Phoebe May Newman, Bree Smith, Benjamin Yates, and swings Lewis Easter and Collette Guitart.
