The Southeastern premiere of David Hare's award-winning Racing Demon opens at Atlanta's Horizon Theatre Jan. 10, running through Feb. 23.

Racing Demon is Hare's view of the spiritual rot besetting the Church of England. His play exposes the crisis of a spiritually exhausted minister who is challenged by a younger, ambitious minister with a harsh agenda. As the minister faces his own religious doubt and his risky political beliefs, he also must deal with the intentions of the younger colleague, his deteriorating marriage, and how to protect another clergyman whose controversial secret may destroy their parish.

Racing Demon ran at Broadway's Vivian Beaumont Theatre in Lincoln Center, and was nominated for the 1996 Tony Award for Best Play. The 1990 production in London received the Olivier Award for Best Play.
