The production, directed by the National's artistic director Nicholas Hytner, is a British/Asian spin on Bill Naughton's 1960's post-wedding play All in Good Time. The cast includes television comedy actress Meera Syal.

Set in the northern English town of Bolton, the comedy follows an Asian couple who move in with the groom's family after their wedding.

The National's production notes describe the play thusly: "The wedding feast is over and his father's dancing the bhangra, but the groom himself is busy on the net. And when it's time for bed, he's so woefully inhibited by his parents, let alone his brother's childish pranks, that his beautiful virgin bride remains just that. Six weeks later the whole family starts to panic."

Syal's stage credits include Peer Gynt for the National, Bombay Dreams and The Vagina Monologues. The cast also includes Bollywood actor Harish Patel.

Including both parts of Henry IV, the play marks Hytner's tenth production since becoming artistic director in 2003. The tally does not include the current production of The Rose Tattoo for which Hytner stepped in following the death of director Steven Pimlott.
