The "new music" of Ragtime ends in Texas Aug. 13 as the national tour moves on from Fort Worth's Bass Performance Hall. The Casa Manana presentation began performances Aug. 8.

Ragtime, by Terrence McNally (book), Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) and Stephen Flaherty (music), opened on Broadway Jan. 18, 1998, with Frank Galati directing and Graciela Daniele choreographing. The Tony Award winner (for Best Score, Book, Orchestration and Featured Actress) is based on the E.L. Doctorow novel of the same name, which interweaves the story of a white middle class family in New Rochelle, New York with a piano player-turned-crusader from Harlem and the woman he loves and a poor Jewish immmigrant and his daughter and Houdini and Stanford White and Emma Goldman and a host of others -- all as the century turns from the 19th into the 20th.

Cathy Wydner (Mother), Lovena Fox (Sarah), Lawrence Hamilton (Coalhouse), Jim Corti (Tateh), Stephen Zinnato (Father), Jacqueline Bayne (Evelyn Nesbit), Eric Olson (Harry Houdini), Mary Gutzi (Emma Goldman) and Sam Samuelson (Younger Brother) star.
