Alton Fitzgerald White, currently starring as Coalhouse Walker in Ragtime, will be releasing his second solo album early next year.
"It's called 'Ecstasy,'" White told Playbill On-Line, "The record is all done and we should have the packaging done by the end of the year." White said he will title the record in Latin to avoid any confusion or unintentional reference to the illegal substance of the same name.
White's first CD, which is still available at the Ford Center, was an a cappella project. The production on the new CD is compelling, with pop rhythms showcasing White's dynamic vocals in a different context. Once Ragtime closes at the Ford Center in mid-January, the singer said he plans to decompress and take some time off for creative projects.
