News Ragtime Tony Nominee Will Be Part of Developmental Lab of New Musical The Next Big Thing Laurie Oestreicher and LLL Magic will present two developmental lab performances of the new musical The Next Big Thing Oct. 27-28 at the Helen Mills Theater on W. 26th St.

The Next Big Thing features book and lyrics by J. Laurence Lowenstein and music by Gerald H. Bailey. Jim Ortlieb will direct the 3 PM readings. The cast will include Tony nominee Christiane Noll, Eric William Morris, Stephanie Rothenberg, David Perlman, Steve Rosen, Timothy Warmen and Mark Zimmerman.

In The Next Big Thing, according to press notes "Scott, an aspiring actor, faces hardships and setbacks on the road to eventual wild success in Hollywood, only to discover a whole new set of burdens and struggles that come along with his newfound celebrity status. With a cast of characters that includes industry-savvy agents, a hotshot producer-director, Scott's bumbling best friend, a sophisticated female agent, and a young actress, The Next Big Thing is an intimate seven-character musical that offers a fresh look at the way the entertainment world works, and the steep price for success in that world."

The Next Big Thing has choreography by Ryan Kasprzak, musical direction by Jeff Klitz and lighting design by Benjamin Weill.
