Ragtime's Dawson Stars in Tale of Cinderella at Lincoln Center

News   Ragtime's Dawson Stars in Tale of Cinderella at Lincoln Center Michelle Dawson, who originated the role of Evelyn Nesbit in the Chicago production of Ragtime, will star as Cinderella in Lincoln Center's Cinderella Dance, Cinderella Sing on June 8, part of its weekend "Reel to Real" series.

Michelle Dawson, who originated the role of Evelyn Nesbit in the Chicago production of Ragtime, will star as Cinderella in Lincoln Center's Cinderella Dance, Cinderella Sing on June 8, part of its weekend "Reel to Real" series.

Held at Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theatre at 11:30 AM and 2 PM, the performance of Cinderella Dance, Cinderella Sing will include portions of the New York State Theatre Institute's production of The Tale of Cinderella, which casts Dawson as the fairytale princess. Joining Dawson in The Tale of Cinderella are Anthony Hastings (Prince Nicolo), Lorraine Serabian (La Stella), John Romeo (Il Compari) and Joel Aroeste (Paolo, Cinderella's father).

The Reel to Real series pairs classic film clips with live performance and also includes "spirited audience participation." In addition to the live performance, the Cinderella day will feature footage from The Royal Ballet's presentation of the Prokofiev/Ashton ballet, Rossini's opera version and the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein TV broadcast with Julie Andrews.

In addition to her role in Ragtime, Michelle Dawson's other theatrical credits include the Broadway productions of Cyrano and Show Boat, the national tour of The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and regional productions of Hello, Dolly! and West Side Story.
