Giovanna Sardelli, who staged the world premiere of Joseph's Animals Out of Paper, will direct the new psychological drama, which will run March 9-April 3. An official opening has been set for March 12.

The two-person cast will include Remi Sandri (The Kite Runner, Violet) as Vice Principal Danielson and Adam Poss (The History Boys, Antebellum) as Khadim.

According to TheatreWorks, "The North Pool traverses the minefields of ethnic profiling in a suburban community hyper-focused on political correctness. In this cat-and-mouse thriller, a Middle Eastern high school student is under constant scrutiny by his vice principal. Syria-born Khadim is new to this country with his parents traveling in Saudi Arabia, leaving him a teenager with complete freedom and ulterior motives. Vice Principal Danielson is a local 'by-the-book' authoritarian who is keeping a close eye on Khadim. But secrets haunt them both at Sheffield High, tucked in hidden lockers and concealed on high-tech phones, waiting to spill out."

TheatreWorks previously developed The North Pool as part of its 2009 New Works Festival.

Joseph's Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo was a Pulitzer Prize finalist and will arrive on Broadway this March, starring Robin Williams. His plays also include All This IntimacyAnimals Out of Paper (Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Outstanding Play) and Gruesome Playground Injurues (currently Off-Broadway at Second Stage Theatre). The Alley Theatre in Houston, TX is also preparing to stage the world premiere of his new play The Monster at the Door this spring.
