News Ralphie's Ready for the Holidays! Inside Rehearsals for Paper Mill's A Christmas Story Take a look inside rehearsals for Paper Mill Playhouse's upcoming production of A Christmas Story, the holiday musical based on the 1983 film of the same name. The show runs Nov. 25-Jan. 3, 2016, at the New Jersey venue. Brandon Ivie directs.

Ted Koch will star as the show's narrator, Jean Shepherd (based on the original narrator of the film). Broadway veterans Elena Shaddow and Chris Hoch will be featured as Mother and The Old Man, respectively. Danette Holden will appear as Ralphie's strict teacher, Miss Shields.

Judah Immanuel and Colton Maurer will share the role of Ralphie Parker, the little boy who wants nothing more for Christmas than a Red Ryder carbine action BB gun. Hudson Loverro will play Ralph's younger brother, Randy Parker.

The adult ensemble includes Kyle Nicholas Anderson, Jacob ben Widmar, Jillian Butler, Andrew Cristi, Madge Dietrich, Carlos Encinias, Marjorie Failoni, Ellie Fishman, Thay Floyd, Benjamin Howes, Karen Hyland, Charlie Johnson and Kirsten Wyatt.

Rounding out the cast as the children's ensemble are Laurel Caruso, Vincenzo Faruolo, Parker James Fullmore, Ruby Griffin, Mackenzie Lewis, Anna McCarthy, Ryan McInnes, Gabriel Reis, Anthony Rosenthal, Dana Beth Steiner and Gavin Swartz. Two purebred bloodhounds named Pete and Lily, who appeared in the original Broadway run of A Christmas Story, will reprise their roles as the Bumpus Hounds.

The show is described as such: "This classic holiday tale centers on a mischievous, bespectacled boy, Ralphie, who dreams of getting a BB gun for Christmas. In the weeks before the big holiday, Ralphie, his friends and his family get into all kinds of situations — including run-ins with a bully with 'yellow eyes,' a tongue stuck to a flag pole, a bar of soap in the mouth, a garish leg lamp, a major award and a Chinese Christmas dinner."

A Christmas Story features music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Joseph Robinette.

Mara Newbery Greer serves as choreographer, with Ben Whiteley as music director. William Berlin is animal director and trainer.

A Christmas Story will feature scenic design by Walt Spangler, scenic coordination by Stephen Carmody, costume design by Elizabeth Hope Clancy, costume coordination and additional design by Leon Dobkowski, lighting design by F. Mitchell Dana, sound design by Randy Hansen and hair and wig design by Leah Loukas. Gary Mickelson serves as production stage manager. Casting is by Telsey + Company.

Special audio-described performances will be offered Dec. 19 and 20 at 1:30 PM.

An autism-friendly performance will be offered Dec. 29 at 1:30 PM. According to a release, the performance is "designed specifically for children on the autism spectrum or with other developmental disabilities, and is planned in cooperation with Paper Mill Playhouse’s Autism Advisory Team."

Other special events include "Meet Your Seat," an event during which children can familiarize themselves with the theatre on Dec. 28 from 4-6 PM; coffee with the director Nov. 25 at 6:30 PM; "Conversation Clubs," during which audiences can learn about the show Dec. 3, 10, 17 and 22 at 6 PM; and a Q&A session with the actors following the matinee performance Dec. 19.
