Mojada: A Medea in Los Angeles opened Off-Broadway at the Public Theater July 17. The play, by MacArthur Genius recipient Luis Alfar and directed by Chay Yew, follows a woman from Mexico who sacrifices everything to bring her son to America—only to encounter even greater challenges.
Inspired by the Greek classic Medea, the drama began previews July 2 and is scheduled to run through August 11 at the downtown venue.

Mojada stars Vanessa Aspillaga, Alex Hernandez, Ada Maris, Benjamin Luis McCracken, Socorro Santiago, and Sabina Zúñiga Varela.
The production features scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Haydee Zelideth, lighting design by David Weiner, sound design by Mikhael Fiksel, hair styling and wig design by Earon Chew Nealey, projection design by Stephan Mazurek. UnkleDave’s Fight-House is the fight and intimacy director with Buzz Cohen as the production stage manager and Luisa Sánchez Colón as the stage manager.
