The Signature Theatre revival of Stephen Adly Guirgis’ Our Lady of 121st Street officially opened Off-Broadway May 20. The production, which follows the acclaimed, three-time extended Signature production of Guirgis’ Jesus Hopped the ‘A’ Train, is directed by Tony winner Phylicia Rashad.

Our Lady of 121st Street began May 1 and is scheduled to play through June 10. In Guirgis’ 2002 play, a group of former students return to their Harlem neighborhood to pay respects to the late Sister Rose. Once there, they discover that her body has been stolen.

The cast of Our Lady of 121st Street is made up of Joey Auzenne (House of Cards), Obie Award winner Quincy Tyler Bernstine (The Amateurs), Erick Betancourt (Jesus Hopped the ‘A’ Train), Maki Borden (A 24-Decade History of Popular Music), Jimonn Cole (Peter and the Starcatcher), John Doman (The Wire), Dierdre Friel (Search Party), Hill Harper (The Good Doctor), Kevin Isola (Billions), Stephanie Kurtzuba (The Good Wife), Paola Lázaro (To the Bone), and John Procaccino (Incident at Vichy).

The production features scenic design by Walt Spangler, costume design by Alexis Forte, lighting design Keith Parham, and sound design by Robert Kaplowitz. Charles M. Turner III is the production stage manager. Casting is by Caparelliotis Casting.
