Industry readings of the new jazz blues musical The City Club will be presented Jan. 28 at Theatre Row’s Beckett Theatre at 1 PM and 5 PM.

Directed by producer Mitchell Maxwell, the cast includes Andrew Pandaleon, Margaret Hoffman, Natalie Peyser, Tess Soltau, Kenny Brawner, Michael Pemberton, Felicia Ricci, Sally Swallow, Stephen Lee Anderson, Spencer Moses, Michael Lanning and Brian Munn. The City Club is written by Glenn M. Stewart with a score by James Compton, Tim Brown and Tony DeMeur. The reading features musical staging by Lorin Latarro and musical direction by Compton.

The new musical, according to press notes, "centers around Charles Davenport, a passionate and naïve jazz club owner who tries to create the ultimate club in a dark city full of corruption and prejudice. With a blind passion for music, he headlines sizzling talent from 'the wrong side of the tracks,' for his wealthy and decadent patrons who are willing to pay anything for what they want — with tragic results."

Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre is located at 410 West 42nd Street.
