News   Reading of New Rock Musical The Great Pretender, Inspired by Life of Freddie Mercury, Set for March TGP, LLC will present a staged reading of the new rock musical The Great Pretender, inspired by the story of the late rock singer Freddie Mercury, in March.

Directed by Douglas Moser, the cast will include Joel Perez as Freddie Mercury with Zi Alikan, Langley Brandon, Brian Walker, Jim Bray, Dan Rosenbaum, Thayne Jasperson, Christopher DeRosa, Lindsay O'Neil, Mark Lanham, Ed Romanoff, Alex Quiroga, Bart Shatto, Darrel Blackburn, Dennis Stowe, Scoop Sloane, Logan James Hall, Stephanie Spano and Jennifer Mathie.

The Great Pretender, according to press notes, "is ultimately the story of one man's quest for the fulfillment of his creative soul. It tackles the issue of personal identity, acceptance and loyalty beyond one's differences. It is a poignant testimony of a rise to stardom, while acknowledging its bittersweet casualties."

The new musical features a script written by Ryan Blanchard with music direction and arrangements by Julie McBride and musical staging by Josh Bergasse.

The Great Pretender is produced by On Que Entertainment and Pluto Productions; Michael T. Clarkston is general manager.
