The musical, according to press notes, is "based on the true story of the prosecution of the Mob in Providence, Rhode Island. The story pits two informants (Cuccioli, Farina) who go into the witness protection program to save themselves from punishment. These former 'family members' agree to testify against Don Marco (Nolte). The Don's real son (Allen) is loyal to him although his father scorns him for his failure to become a mob family member and his suspected gay orientation. The Godfather learns too late who is really a loyal son as he settles into his own uneasy relationship with his mob family."

The Metropolitan Club is located in Manhattan at 1 East 60th Street.
