News Reasons Playwright LaBute to Take Part in Borders Event and Post-Performance Discussions Reasons to Be Pretty playwright Neil LaBute will join the play's director, Terry Kinney, for a May 9 event at Borders in the Time Warner Center.

The 5 PM appearance will include a performance from the Tony-nominated play, a question-and-answer session with the author and director, and a book signing. The Time Warner Center is located in Manhattan at 10 Columbus Circle; visit www.borders.com for more information. LaBute will also take part in discussions following the May 9 (at 8 PM) and May 10 (at 3 PM) performances of Pretty. LaBute, according to press notes, "will talk about the themes in his plays, offer insight into his Broadway debut and provide the opportunity for audience members to ask the prolific author questions about what they've just seen." The post-show discussions are free to anyone purchasing a ticket to those two performances.

Marin Ireland, Steven Pasquale, Piper Perabo and Thomas Sadoski comprise the four-person cast. The play, according to the producers, "confronts America's obsession with physical beauty headlong. In Neil LaBute's new play, Greg's (Sadoski) tight-knit social circle is thrown into turmoil when his off-handed remarks about a female co-worker's pretty face (and his girlfriend's lack thereof) get back to said girlfriend (Ireland). But that's just the beginning."

The Lyceum Theatre is located in Manhattan at 149 West 45th Street. Tickets are available by visiting www.telecharge.com or by calling (212) 239-6200.
