Rebecca Luker Sings Jerome Kern, according to 54 Below, "is the perfect marriage of one of Broadway's most glorious voices with one of Broadway's greatest composers. Luker covers 30 years of songs including 'Can't Help Lovin' That Man,' 'The Folks Who Live on the Hill,' 'The Song is You,' 'Bill' and many others."
The July 6-7 concerts begin at 8 PM with doors opening at 6 PM.
"When I started putting this concert together, I wasn't as knowledgeable as I thought I was about Kern," said Luker in a recent interview with Playbill.com. "I've since learned that his range over a 30-year period — from the early, early days at the Princess Theatre until when he died — is just astounding. The range of his styles and what he wrote! I think I fit in because I'm kind of a versatile singer." Click here to read the full interview with Luker, who talks about the joys of singing Kern.
Luker, who has been Tony-nominated for her performances in Mary Poppins, The Music Man and Show Boat, has also been seen on Broadway in Nine, The Sound of Music, Something Wonderful, The Secret Garden and The Phantom of the Opera. Visit her page at the Playbill Vault.
54 Below is located at 254 West 54th Street. There is a $30-$40 cover charge plus a $25 food/drink minimum. For more information and tickets, visit 54Below.com.
