News Record Breakers! California Theatre Surpasses Guinness World Record With 100 Hours of Stories In celebration of the Lamb's Players Theatre's 20th year in Coronado, CA, the company broke the Guinness World Record for Longest Marathon Theatrical Performance May 12.

From May 8 at 6 PM-May 12 at 10 PM, the San Diego non-profit theatre company presented 100 consecutive hours of play and musical readings to break the record. The special event had a peer-to-peer fund-raising component, with over 100 participating artists and additional community members raising funds individually to support the organization. Lamb's raised over $180,000.

Director of development and architect of the event, Colleen Kollar Smith, said in a statement issued to Playbill.com, "In accordance with Guinness requirements, the first record-breaking 75 hours of the marathon had to be performed by the same 20 actors, 'The Core' Group. The readings and casting was structured so that each of the 20 'Core' actors would have periods of rest time. The reality, of course, was those rest times were sometimes an hour or three at a time. Because of the lack of consistent sleep, there were literally no walls up between performers. Many of us felt it was the most vulnerable performance we had ever given. There was a beauty in how quick everyone was to care for each other backstage, stepping up to take the torch when someone needed rest."

"The Core" group included Jesse Abeel, Bryan Barbarin, Season Bowers, Jim Chovick, Nicole Elledge, Brendan Farley, Cynthia Gerber, Caitie Grady, David Kirk Grant, David Cochran Heath, G. Scott Lacy, Jon Lorenz, Kerry Meads, Rick Meads, Collen Kollar Smith, Lance Arthur Smith, Deborah Gilmour Smyth, Robert Smyth, Greg Thompson and Kelsey Venter.

Kollar continued, "After the record had been broken at 75 hours, we celebrated for the next 25 hours by bringing in over 100 local artists to continue reading and singing through plays with us. It was a wonderful opportunity to share our assets — our story-telling abilities — with the community, all while celebrating our past and securing our future. There were so many people who made this event a success."

Additional performers included Holly Abeel, Tom Andrew, Scotty Atienza, Bryan Banville, Katie Banville, Eileen Bowman, Becky Biegelsen, Chrissy Burns, Theresa Byrne, Kathleen Calvin, Danny Campbell, Sandy Campbell, Megan Carmitchel, Nancy Snow Carr, Geno Carr, John Carroll, Ron Choularton, Susan Clausen, David Cohen, Nick Cordileone, Jessica Couto, Diana Elledge, Chuck Elledge, Ryan Fahey, Bryan Feldman, Melissa Fernandes, Greg Good, Justin Gray, Steve Gunderson, Kyrsten Hafso-Koppman, Kevin Hafso-Koppman, Carrie Heath, Jason Heil, April Henry, Ed Hofmeister, Ed Hollingsworth, Tracy Hughes, David Humphrey, Amanda Graham Hyden, Phil Johnson, Jeffrey Jones, Renee Kaufmann, Kelli Kelley, Lauren King, Charlene Koepf, Alex Lee, Linda Libby, Steve Limones, Ryan Linvill, Brian Mackey, Jesse MacKinnon, Harley Magsino, Brandon Maier, Jason Makiaris, Patrick Marion, Mike McCafferty, Myra McWethy, Mary Miller, Jeff Miller, Jordon Miller, Kim Miller, Lizzie Morse, Veronica Murphy, Austyn Myers, Kürt Norby, Cris O'Bryon, Rik Ogden, Karyn Overstreet, Lane Palhegyi, Louis Pardo, Leonard Patton, Nate Peirson, John Polhamus, Chrissy Reynolds, Rosina Reynolds, Erika Beth Phillips, Walter Ritter, Tim Roberts, John Rosen, Spencer Rowe, Dave Rumley, Danica Russell, Brent Schindele, Mike Sears, Brandon Sherman, Oliver Shirley, Alexis Rae Tenney, Chris Turner, Rachael VanWormer, Lucia Vecchio, Tom Versen, Marci Wuebben and Joy Yandell.
