From May 8 at 6 PM-May 12 at 10 PM, the San Diego non-profit theatre company presented 100 consecutive hours of play and musical readings to break the record. The special event had a peer-to-peer fund-raising component, with over 100 participating artists and additional community members raising funds individually to support the organization. Lamb's raised over $180,000.

Director of development and architect of the event, Colleen Kollar Smith, said in a statement issued to Playbill.com, "In accordance with Guinness requirements, the first record-breaking 75 hours of the marathon had to be performed by the same 20 actors, 'The Core' Group. The readings and casting was structured so that each of the 20 'Core' actors would have periods of rest time. The reality, of course, was those rest times were sometimes an hour or three at a time. Because of the lack of consistent sleep, there were literally no walls up between performers. Many of us felt it was the most vulnerable performance we had ever given. There was a beauty in how quick everyone was to care for each other backstage, stepping up to take the torch when someone needed rest."

Kollar continued, "After the record had been broken at 75 hours, we celebrated for the next 25 hours by bringing in over 100 local artists to continue reading and singing through plays with us. It was a wonderful opportunity to share our assets — our story-telling abilities — with the community, all while celebrating our past and securing our future. There were so many people who made this event a success."
