Prophets of Nature, according to press notes, "is set in 19th-century England and explores the Luddite weavers' violent clash against factory owners at the height of the industrial revolution. Prophets of Nature raises the questions: What if the 'dangerous times' of the headlines suddenly posed a real and immediate threat in our private lives? What if our own hope, our capacity for justice, for mercy, might be worn away? To protect who and what we love, what could we be capable of?"
Reddin said in a statement, "The more I read and researched, the more I was struck that the Luddites were considered early Terrorists. They used the tactics of modern day terrorists, creating fear and often using violence to fight back. The government suspended many laws and rounded up suspects to fight the fear of the Terrorists. The more you learn about the Luddites the more parallels one finds to today's situation."
The open reading of Prophets of Nature will be held at the Salt Lake Acting Company's home, located at 168 W 500 N, Salt Lake City. General admission tickets will be distributed an hour before the performance.
