Variety reports that the cast will see a return to the London boards for Vanessa Redgrave and Aidan Quinn. Broadway producer Barry Weissler is hoping to start the show either outside London or directly in the West End, but his casting plans go beyond the prestigious duo of Quinn and Redgrave. In New York, the play saw what Weissler called “revolving casting,” with Richard Dreyfuss and Jill Clayburgh heading a changing roster of stars, including Quinn. It’s a casting policy that has gained momentum since David Pugh’s London production of Yasmina Reza’s Art, which kept refreshing itself with new trios of box-office draws. This Is Our Youth and The Vagina Monologues followed suit, as will The Exonerated.

Weissler produced the 1997 revival of Chicago at London’s Adelphi Theatre, still going strong and given a high kick by the successful movie version. And, says Variety, he’s also looking at the city for a transfer of his Broadway staging of Our Town.
