News Reichard, Mastro, Kirk and Wood Set for Love's Fire Benefit; McCarthy Directs Love's Fire — an evening of one-act plays by Eric Bogosian, William Finn, Marsha Norman and Ntozake Shange that were inspired by Shakespearean sonnets — will be presented Sept. 25 at New World Stages.

Screen star Andrew McCarthy will direct the 8 PM performance, which benefits Opening Act, the nonprofit organization that provides free after-school theatre programming to Manhattan's most underserved public high schools. Those scheduled to take part in the reading include Keith Byron Kirk, Harriett D. Foy, Keith Nobbs, Zoe Lister-Jones, Michael Mastro, Alicia Minshew, Daniel Reichard and Frank Wood. Suzy Myers is producing Love's Fire, which is being presented by special arrangement with The Acting Company.

Love's Fire marks the second annual benefit reading for Opening Act. Last year, a star-studded presentation of Neil Simon's Plaza Suite boasted performances by Laura Benanti, Michael Badalucco, Michael Berresse, Ilene Kristen and Alix Korey.

Tickets for Love's Fire, priced $15-$100, can be purchased by visiting www.openingactnewyork.org. New World Stages is located in Manhattan at 340 West 50th Street.
