Bleached-blond and quirky "concept comedian" Reno is returning to the New York stage with Rebel Without a Pause, opening Oct. 4 at La MaMa. This is her first extended run at La MaMa, and she's completely revamped the show as a result of the tragedy on Sept. 11.

A statement to the press explains "her material is always shifting and in the moment. It was actually invigorating to her to toss out much of her material ... and start over." Reno believes that this performance will take on a town-meeting kind of feel, allowing audiences to speak out as much as she does.

Reno herself plans to speak out on young war-mongers, ignorant citizens and the idea of self-imprisonment in these newly-formed monologues.

Reno got her start in 1990 in her Off Broadway show Reno: In Rage and Rehab, and has go on to make shows like Reno Once Removed and the HBO Special Reno Finds Her Mom, co-starring Lily Tomlin and Mary Tyler Moore.
