PlayBlog Rent Costume Designer Angela Wendt Discusses Off-Broadway Makeover (Video) Costume designer Angela Wendt, who costumed the original production of Rent, has returned for the Off-Broadway revival of the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical that recently opened at New World Stage Aug. 11. Wendt, who reunites with original Tony-nominated director Michael Greif, gives the Off-Broadway revival a fresh look, complete with all-new costume designs.

Here, the New York Daily News goes backstage with Wendt to check out the new production. Wendt explains that throughout Rent's journey, minor changes were made to the costumes, but the overall look remained the same. In the new production, Wendt is able to give Jonathan Larson's rock opera a complete makeover. Wendt and associate costume designer Lisa Zinni explain the thought process behind the changes and how they make the actors as comfortable as possible.

Besides new costumes, the newly conceived production also features new choreography, projection design and a new set.
