News Rent Star to Step into the Broadway Spotlight March 7 The acclaimed "Broadway Spotlight" series, which features Broadway performers in a concert setting, continues March 7 with Rent's Matt Caplan.

Caplan, who is featured in the ensemble of the Jonathan Larson musical, will offer an evening of original tunes from his recently released CD, "Overtones." Show time is 8 PM at the Ars Nova Theater.

A native New Yorker, Matt Caplan was cast in the touring company of Rent shortly after graduating high school. He also toured the country with fellow songwriter Joshua Kobak and continues to play gigs around the city while starring in Rent.

Previous "Broadway Spotlight" concerts have spotlighted the talents of Avenue Q's Ann Harada and John Tartaglia, Dance of the Vampires' Max von Essen, Les Miz’s Lauren Kennedy, Hairspray's Shoshana Bean, Into the Woods' Chad Kimball, Aida's Felicia Finley, Rent's Anthony Rapp, Wicked's Idina Menzel and Funny Girl’s Leslie Kritzer.

The "Spotlight" series will next offer an evening with Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' Joe Cassidy April 4.
