When Livent won it's court battle with the Elgin/Winter Garden Theatre management in Toronto several months ago it meant that Rent was evicted. Ed and David Mirvish have been searching for a new home for the smash Broadway musical ever since. Now they may have found one. In the programme for the current show at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, Clarence Darrow with Leslie Neilsen, was an article about

Rent, and a very small advertisement about the show 'coming soon'. A little bird has told Theatre News that there will be a press conference at the beginning of November to announce the venue for Rent. The location for the press conference will not be the Royal Alexandra, or The Princess of Wales Theatre, also owned by Mirvish Productions, but rather an empty factory. The factory was formerly the Westinghouse factory just near the downtown Toronto core, adjacent to property owned by the Mirvish family. Coincidence? We don't think so!
