Jonathan Larson's Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Rent officially opens Aug. 22 at the Westchester Broadway Theatre.

Patricia Wilcox directs and choreographs Laron's 1996 musical about East Village bohemians, which will run through Sept. 25. Christopher McGovern is musical director.

Mark Ayesh (See Rock City) portrays Roger with Steena Hernandez as Mimi and Andy Kelso (Fiddler on the Roof) as Mark. The cast also features Justin Keyes as Benny, Gabrielle Reid as Joanne, Angelo Rios as Tom Collins, Sara Ruzicka as Maureen and Justin Senense as Angel.

The Rent ensemble includes Joseph Almohaya, Melvin Bell, Lovlee Carroll, Julie Conuel, Jason Gotay, Rebecca Larkin, Jenna Noel, Tanesha Ross, Antoine Smith, Tonya Thompson.

Based on Puccini's La Bohème, Rent resets the tale of struggling artists to New York City in the 1990's. Set against the AIDS epidemic and gentrification of the Lower East Side, Rent traces the friendships and loves of a group of artists as they find their voices in an uncertain world.

Designing the WBT production are Ken Larson (set design), Andrew Gmoser (lighting design), Jonathan Hatton (sound design) and Matthew Hemesath (costume design).
