PlayBlog Rent's Off-Broadway Cast Talks About Educating Youth (Video) Original Tony-nominated director Michael Greif returns to Rent with a brand-new cast in the Off-Broadway revival of Jonathan Larson's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, set to open Aug. 11 at New World Stages.

In a new interview series with MTI Showspace, the cast members of the Off-Broadway production talk about the concepts of Rent. Larson's work includes themes that push boundaries and concepts that defy what is socially acceptable. Here, the cast members share why they think it is important to keep the message of Rent alive and educate the youth of today's society.

Next to Normal's Adam Chanler-Berat leads the cast as documentary filmmaker Mark Cohen. He is joined by Annaleigh Ashford (Wicked) as Maureen Johnson; Margot Bingham as Alexi Darling, Roger's Mom, and others; Nicholas Christopher as Tom Collins; Arianda Fernandez as Mimi Marquez; Marcus Paul James as Mr. Jefferson, Paul, and others; Tamika Sonja Lawrence as Mrs. Jefferson, woman with bags; Corbin Reid as Joanne Jefferson; Michael Rodriguez as Angel Schunard; Matt Shingledecker as Roger Davis; Ephraim Sykes as Benjamin Coffin III; Ben Thompson as Christmas caroler, Mr. Grey, The Man, and others; Michael Wartella as Steve, Gordon, Waiter, and others; and Morgan Weed as Mark's Mom and others. Also in the company are Sean Michael Murray, Xavier Cano and Genny Lis Padilla.
