Rent's Anthony Rapp and New York Voices singer Peter Eldridge will lead the festivities under Sean McCourt's "Big Top" at Wilson's April 17. Both will sing original tunes.
Rapp made his Broadway splash creating the role of Mark in Jonathan Larson's Rent and going on to play Charlie Brown in the 1999 revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. His movie credits include the recent star turn in "Man of the Century" and the upcoming "Road Trip," with roles in "Dazed and Confused," "Six Degrees of Separation" and "Adventures in Babysitting."
A jazz vocalist and pianist, Eldridge is a founding member of New York Voices. Recent recordings include "New York Voices Sing the Songs of Paul Simon" and "New York Voices Collection" with a salute to the great big bands to be released in August. The New York Voices are on the web at http://www.jazzcorner.com/newyorkvoices.
The cover is $10. For dinner reservations, call (212) 769-0100. Wilson's is located at 201 West 79th Street at Amsterdam.
McCourt's Big Top series features Broadway actors performing their own original material or original material written for them. Past guests have included Brian d'Arcy James (The Wild Party, Titanic), Alice Ripley (The Dead, Side Show), Christiane Noll (Jekyll & Hyde) and Gilles Chiasson (The Civil War, Rent). -- By Christine Ehren
