Driscoll, who penned the song "What Matters" following Shepard's murder in 1998, has raised over $40,000 for the Matthew Shepard Foundation. Driscoll's Metropolitan Room engagement is part of a tour in honor of the ten-year observance of Shepard's tragic death.
Rapp will join Driscoll for the 8 PM concert that will also feature David Gurland, Robbie Maitner, Josh Zuckerman and Dwayne Britton. All proceeds from the evening benefit the Matthew Shepard Foundation.
The Matthew Shepard Foundation, according to a press statement, "carries out Matthew's legacy by developing educational projects and activities that raise awareness of the issues involving discrimination and diversity. The Foundation's goal is to educate and replace hate with understanding, compassion, and acceptance." For more information visit MatthewShepard.org.
Tickets, ranging $25-$50, are available by phoning (212) 206-0440 or by visiting MetropolitanRoom.
The Metropolitan Room is located in Manhattan at 34 West 22nd Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.
