Classic Arts News Report: Dance Theatre of Harlem Will Shut its Doors for the Season Dance Theatre of Harlem has suspended operations and disbanded its 44-member dance troupe for the remainder of the 2004-05 season, the Boston Globe and the Dance Insider Online report.
The Dance Insider, an online magazine, reported Friday, September 17, that the 35-year-old company is taking the hiatus in order to restructure its finances. According to the site, dancers with the company have been laid off, but will perform one more time at the Fall for Dance Festival at City Center in New York.

An official with Dance Theatre of Harlem declined to comment, saying that the company will make an announcement at a press conference tomorrow morning.
