News Report: Liza Minnelli to Sing Nominated "Chicago" Song on Oscars? Liz Smith reported Feb. 27 that Oscar officials are considering Liza Minnelli to sing "I Move On," the new Kander-Ebb tune from "Chicago" that is nominated for Best Original Song.

Minnelli is well schooled in the songs of John Kander and Freb Ebb. She briefly served as a replacement actor in the Broadway premiere of Chicago, appeared in The Rink and starred in the film version of Cabaret. Minnelli told Smith she had not been contacted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Film stars Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones (both Oscar-nommed for the pic) sing the number in the film, over the end credits. Zeta-Jones is currently pregnant with her second child by husband Michael Douglas.
