News Report: Opposite of Sex Musical May Reach Broadway Next Season Producers Barry and Fran Weissler may bring the new musical The Opposite of Sex to Broadway next season, Variety reported.

The Broadway bow will probably be preceded by a regional production, the trade reported. The musical had a workshop production in December, featuring the talents of Kerry Butler, Stephen Bogardus, Ana Gasteyer, Jeff McCarthy, Matthew Morrison, Barrett Foa and Keith Nobbs. Beauty and the Beast's Robert Jess Roth directed the musical, which features music and lyrics by Douglas J. Cohen and a book by Roth and Cohen based on Don Roos' screenplay.

Written and directed by Don Roos, the 1998 film "The Opposite of Sex" starred Christina Ricci, Martin Donovan, Lisa Kudrow, Lyle Lovett, Johnny Galecki and William Lee Scott. The comedy concerned a 16-year-old girl who visits her gay half-brother and wreaks havoc on his and his friends' lives.
