Third Space will present a revised version of Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant at the New Ohio Theatre. The show will feature an entirely new fifth act and will be directed by Benjamin Viertel.

Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant will begin previews February 17 prior to an official opening February 24 for a run through March 11 at the New Ohio Theatre, located at 154 Christopher Street.

The all-female cast includes Betsey Brown, Jody Doo, Caroline Gombé, Lenore Harris, Mariana Parma, and Alex Spieth.

Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant is a play about power, desire, consumption, and the fashion industry. When a new model in fashion designer Petra von Kant’s realm quickly rises to stardom, Petra’s assistant, Marlene, is forced to pick up the pieces, changing her life.

Scenic design will be by Bryce Cutler, with costume design by Emily Chalmers, lighting design by Mary Ellen Stebbins, sound design by Almeda Beynon, and dramaturgy by Olivia O’Connor. Kelly Hartnett is the stage manager, and Lio Sigerson is the associate producer.
