After a sold-out run last summer as part of the 2008 Harlem Week with Hattie…What I Need You To Know, Reynolds returns with a new evening that features an inside look at the making of and songs from Hattie… Tyrone Patrick accompanies Reynolds for the 7 and 9 PM performances.
Press notes for the original full-length production of Hattie... state that the solo evening "takes the audience on a dramatic musical journey through Hattie's life from her early childhood and her relationship with her family to her difficult decision to leave her family and move to Los Angeles to pursue her artistic dreams during a time filled with racism and segregation."
The late Hattie McDaniel earned an Academy Award for her performance in "Gone with the Wind," making her the first African American to win the honor in 1939.
