My Pal George — previews July 3 and 4, opens July 5 and runs through July 21 — is described as such: "Rick finds himself jogging down the beach with the President, his Secret Service agents, David Hasselhoff, and Ann Coulter, discussing the merits of doing a reality TV series based on the Bush Administration. Once again, he is over his head, mixing Hollywood with politics in a shaggy dog tale so strange it must be true."

Eric Simonson directs the production with a design team that includes scenic designer Dave Brooks, lighting designer Erik M. Seidel and sound designer Craig Kaufman.

The work in progress could be considered a companion piece to Cleveland's 2005 hit regarding former president Bill Clinton, My Buddy Bill, which enjoyed a workshop at Berkshire Theatre Festival before making its world premiere in L.A. at the Geffen Playhouse. The award-winning production was subsequently filmed for Comedy Central.

In addition to writing for the stage, Cleveland won an Emmy Award and Writer's Guild Award for his writing on "The West Wing" and served as executive producer for the HBO hit "Six Feet Under" for all five seasons. His play, Jerry and Tom, adapted as a screenplay, was an official selection at the Sundance and Toronto Film Festivals in 1998. Cleveland is currently writing the sequel to the classic seventies film "The Candidate" for Robert Redford, as well as a Frankenstein movie for Will Ferrell. He also wrote the screen adaptation of John Grisham's "Runaway Jury" and is a commentator for NPR's "All Things Considered."
