La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and McCoy Rigby Entertainment in association with The Welk Resorts Theatre (to where the play will move in 2010) present the comedy drama about Louisiana women who bond at a beauty parlor. La Mirada Theatre's producing artistic director Brian Kite directs a cast that include Tony Award nominee Rigby (famous for her appearances in the musical Peter Pan) and Emmy Award-winning TV and stage star Learned ("The Waltons," "Nurse"), plus Emma Fassler, Christa Jackson, Rosina Reynolds and Amy Sloan.

Opening is Oct. 3. Performances play to Oct. 18 at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Boulevard in La Mirada, CA.

The 1987 Off-Broadway comedy-with-tears is also widely known for its Hollywood film version.

The production team includes set designer John Iacovelli, lighting designer Craig Pierce, costume designer Julie Keen, sound designer Josh Bessom, prop designer Terry Hanrahan and wig/hair/make-up designer Judi Lewin.

This production of Steel Magnolias will resurface at The Welk Resorts Theatre in Escondido, CA, on Jan. 7, 2010, for a three-week run.
