Alan Hruska’s Ring Twice for Miranda officially opens February 12 at New York City Center Stage II. The new tragicomedy by the Laugh It Up, Stare It Down playwright began previews Off-Broadway January 24 with direction by Rick Lombardo.

The play follows a chambermaid named Miranda who escapes her confined household onto the daunting streets outside. Performances are scheduled to run through April 16.

The cast is made up of William Connell (A View From the Bridge, The Coast of Utopia), Katie Kleiger (Juno and the Paycock, Blue Stockings, Miss Bennet), Ian Lassiter (War Horse, An Octoroon), Graeme Malcolm (Equus, Translations, Aida), George Merrick (Honeymoon In Vegas, South Pacific, High Fidelity), Talia Thiesfield (Man of La Mancha, Veep), and Daniel Pearce (Machinal, ...Spelling Bee).

Here’s how production notes describe the new show: “Ring Twice for Miranda is a tragicomedy set in difficult times, roiled by economic upheavals. A man known only as Sir rules with a vengeance, but it's Miranda, a chambermaid, who adds intrigue to his life. When Elliot, the butler, is fired, she flees with him in defiance onto the frightening streets. All must soon make critical decisions with imperfect facts to guide them, since little in their world is as it appears.“

The staging features scenic design by Jason Sherwood (Taming of the Shrew, Paint Your Wagon), costume design by Ann Hould-Ward (Beauty and the Beast, Into The Woods, A Catered Affair), lighting design by Matthew Richards (Grey Gardens, Grace), sound design by Lombardo, and original music by Haddon Kime (The Snow Queen, A Streetcar Named Desire). Casting is by Michael Cassara, CSA. The Off-Broadway debut is produced by Red Horse Productions and RME Theatrical Group (executive producer).

Tickets are available online at NYCityCenter.org, by calling CityTix at (212) 581-1212, or in person at the New York City Center Box Office. New York City Center Stage II is located at 131 West 55th Street, New York.
