LOS ANGELES -- With an advance sale in excess of $3 million for the upcoming Pantages Theatre return engagement of Riverdance, the company has announced that it will extend its run by two additional weeks.
Opening April 10 and originally scheduled to close May 3, Riverdance will now continue through May 17.
This is definitely the only extension for the show, which must then continue its tour of North America.
Produced by Moya Doherty and directed by John McGolgan, Riverdance -- with music by Bill Whelen -- is a celebration of Irish music, song and dance that focuses on the evolution of Irish dance as well as its similarities with -- and influences on -- other cultures.
Riverdance was awarded the 1997 Grammy for "Best Musical Show Album." Performances are Tue.-Fri. at 8 PM, Sat. at 2 and 8 PM and Sun. at 2 and 7:30 PM at the Pantages Theatre, 6233 Hollywood Blvd. For tickets, call the Riverdance Hotline (213) 365-3560.
