He is the first guest in a week-long season of interviews being presented under the umbrella title These are A Few of My Favourite Songs, in which leading theatrical figures will talk to Playbill.com’s London correspondent Mark Shenton about their lives and careers and choose their favorite music. Other guests to follow include another director/choreographer, Australian-born but London based Craig Revel Horwood (May 30), West End and Broadway producers Bill Kenwright (May 31) and Michael Codron (June 1), National Theatre artistic director Nick Hytner (June 2), West End leading lady Janie Dee (June 3), theatre school founder Sylvia Young (June 4 matinee, to be joined by her Tony Award-winning daughter Frances Ruffelle to sing one of Young’s choices) and British songwriting duo George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, currently represented in the West End by Betty Blue Eyes and on Broadway by additional songs for Mary Poppins (June 4 evening).
They will be all be joined by performer Caroline Sheen (recent Helen Hayes Award winner for her performance in the title role of Mary Poppins on a U.S. tour, who from June 23 will be playing Fantine in the West End production of Les Miserables) and pianist Ben Stock.
