News Robards Joins Cast of MTC's Absurd Person Singular Sam Robards, who received a Tony nomination for his Broadway debut in The Man Who Had All the Luck, has joined the cast of Manhattan Theatre Club's Absurd Person Singular.

Robards will play Geoffrey in the Alan Ayckbourn work, which begins performances Sept. 22 at Broadway's Biltmore Theatre with an official opening Oct. 18. The cast also includes the previously announced Mireille Enos (Eva), Clea Lewis (Jane), Alan Ruck (Sidney), Deborah Rush (Marion) and Paxton Whitehead (Ronald). John Tillinger will direct the Ayckbourn comedy involving three couples, three kitchens and three successive Christmas eves. Sam Robards has been seen on Broadway in The Man Who Had All the Luck and Off-Broadway in Album, Moon Children and Flux. His regional credits include Idiot's Delight and The Philadelphia Story. On screen he has appeared in "Marmalade," "Life as a House," "American Beauty," "Bounce," "Beautiful Girls," "Mrs. Parker & the Vicious Circle," "Pret a Porter," "Casualties of War," "Bird," "Bright Lights, Big City," "Not Quite Paradise," "Fandango," "Tempest," "The West Wing," "Law & Order," "Spin City," "Eichmann," "Get a Life" and "Into Thin Air."

The creative team for the production comprises John Lee Beatty (set design), Jane Greenwood (costume design) and Brian MacDevitt (lighting design).
