Catherine Zeta-Jones will star in the romantic comedy with a screenplay by Bart Freundlich. Zeta-Jones has been cast as a single mother in New York City who catches the eye of her younger neighbor, portrayed by Justin Bartha. Robards will play the ex-husband of Zeta-Jones' character, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The cast also features Joanna Gleason, Kate Jennings Grant, Alice Playten, Tom Riis Farrell, Saidah Arrika Ekulona and Lynn Whitfield.
Beginning July 8, Robards – a Tony nominee for The Man Who Had All The Luck – will portray Richard Hannay in Broadway's The 39 Steps, based on the Alfred Hithcock thriller of the same name.
Robards' stage credits also include Absurd Person Singular, The Overwhelming, Misalliance, The Altruists, Moonchildren, Flux, Album and Taking Steps. He has appeared in the films "Life as a House," "American Beauty" "Beautiful Girls" and "Perestroika."
