Mr. Oliver was taken to the hospital Sunday night prior to the 7 PM performance, but was released later that evening. He died only weeks before his work in The Fantasticks was due to end; the show recently announced it would close at the Snapple Theatre Center on Feb. 24. Mr. Oliver was no stranger to shows with long runs. He acted in the original The Fantasticks, which ran for decades at the Sullivan Street Playhouse, and also appeared in the Off-Broadway hit Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding.

Other theatre credits included Girl Crazy, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and My Fair Lady.
