News Robert Powell to Join West End's Singin' in the Rain; Bookings Extended Through September 2013 Robert Powell will join the cast of the West End's Singin' in the Rain, beginning performances Oct. 1, to play film studio boss RF Simpson. Bookings have also been newly extended through Sept. 1, 2013.

Powell, best known for starring in the title role of Zefferelli's "Jesus Of Nazareth" and who also starred as Richard Hannay in the 1978 version of "The Thirty Nine Steps," has also starred on TV in "Holby City" and "The Detectives." He has recently completed U.K. theatre tours of Doctor in the House and Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell. He joins original cast members Adam Cooper (as Don Lockwood), Daniel Crossley (Cosmo Brown), Scarlett Strallen (Kathy Selden), Katherine Kingsley (Lina Lamont) and Sandra Dickinson  (Dora Bailey & Miss Dinsmore).

In a press statement, Powell commented, "I'm delighted to be back in the West End and joining this classic musical.  On the night I went to see it, from the minute the curtain went up I knew it was a show for me and I'm thrilled to be working with such a talented company.  I've also dealt with a few studio bosses in my time so inspiration for the part of RF Simpson should come pretty easily!  I can't wait to get started."
