The many faces of Robin Williams.
The comedian-actor became known during his turn in "Mork & Mindy" — a spinoff created from a guest spot on "Happy Days" — and is widely hailed for his madcap improvisational humor in movies such as "Good Morning, Vietnam," "Aladdin," "The Birdcage," "Mrs. Doubtfire" and most recently, "Death to Smoochy." Williams has often taken on dramatic roles as well, typically of a maudlin cast, in such films as "The Fisher King," "Awakenings" and his Academy Award-winning turn in "Good Will Hunting." He currently stars in "Insomnia," with Al Pacino.
Williams performed his live tour to audiences in San Francisco, Toronto, and Baltimore, among others, before making this three-performance stop in New York City July 11, 13 and 14.
The HBO telecast is set to air July 14 at 9 PM ET under the direction of Marty Callner — who recently helmed the live taping of John Leguizamo's Sexaholix...a love story. The show, which boasts a "Parental Advisory: Explicit Content" warning, will span approximately 102 minutes, covering such topics as "sex, drugs, rock-'n'-roll, religion, politics...and anything else" according to a release.
Subsequent airings are tentatively scheduled as follows (all ET): 10 PM July 15 on HBO2 as well as 9 PM July 18, 12 AM July 21 and 10 PM July 29 on HBO.
