News Robin Williams Will Prowl Richard Rodgers Theatre as Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo The Richard Rodgers Theatre will be the cage of the Broadway premiere of Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, starring Robin Williams as the thoughtful creature of the title. Previews begin March 11, 2011, toward a March 31 opening.

Rajiv Joseph's play was a finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize. It marks the playwright's Broadway debut, and the Broadway acting debut of Williams, the comedian and Oscar-winning actor of "Good Will Hunting," "Good Morning Vietnam" and TV's "Mork & Mindy."

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Nov. 17. The Rodgers on West 46th Street sis currently home to In the Heights.

Two-time Tony nominee Moisés Kaufman (I Am My Own Wife) directs the play, which producers characterize this way: "Rajiv Joseph's ferocious comedy…follows the intertwined lives of a tiger (Williams), two American marines and an Iraqi gardener as they roam the streets of Baghdad in search of friendship, redemption and a toilet seat made of gold."

Additional casting will be announced. The play's Broadway producers are Robyn Goodman, Kevin McCollum, Jeffrey Seller and Center Theatre Group.

Bengal Tiger will perform Tuesdays at 7 PM, Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8 PM, with matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2 PM and Sundays at 3 PM.
