Classic Arts News Rochester Philharmonic Reports Record Fundraising The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra raised $2.1 million in 2004-05, 13 percent more than the previous year, the orchestra announced.
The orchestra increased the number of donors by about 7 percent, to about 7,500, and the size of the average gift by 13 percent.

According to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, however, it's still not clear whether the additional gifts will allow the RPO to balance its budget. "I just don't feel comfortable saying anything about that at this time," Richard Nowlin, the orchestra's president, told the paper.

The RPO posted a deficit of $209,000 on a budget of $8.1 million in 2003-04.
